EXCEL MANUFACTURING PRECISION SHEET METAL FABRICATION SOFT TOOL, SHORT TO MEDIUM RUN MANUFACTURING CONCRETE FILL TREAD STYLES
Tread and riser pans can be either bolted or weled to the stringers and varies from project to projest and fabricator to fabricator. Excel's preference is to weld the assembly into one unitized pre-fab stair system. Welding of the pan tread to the stringers in concrete filled applications is done internally so the welding is consealed once the concrete is poured, and results in clean soffit appearance. Concrete fill treads and risers vary greatly in design style and size. Most designs are based on standards that have been developed for safety and comfort. Above are two examples of treads and risers. The 11" tread is a very common size but the 6.810" riser is determined from a calculation of the total elevation of the stairs. In this case 7" was the maximum height of the rise from stair to stair. Working to extremly tight tolerances allow us to manufacture every step with the exact same rise within a tollerance of +/-.005". Consistency is extremely important from a safety stand point. We manufacture our treads and riser as a one piece part, then we assemble and weld the stairs together to the risers to create the stairs case assembly. The strength that is acheive in the bending and forming of the steel is amazing. Wire mesh is not required when using concrete with a minimum design strength of 3000 psi. Precast concrete stairs are used in some applications where Excel provides formed and fabricated treads and risers designed to work with the precast treads to create the structure to carry the necessary load. Commercial precast concrete adhesives are used to bond the concrete treads to the steel treads. Precast concrete treads cannot exceed 4' 6". Steel Treads and Risers are used in some service stair applications.
Excel Manufacturing does not manufacture special nosing applications such as cast abrasive, extruded aluminum, or aluminum base/epoxy abrasive. However, these products can be incorporated in our Pre-Fab Systems when identified early in the project. Excel Manufacturing is committed to being your partner in success. |
